Dheer: Camp Sanet

On 2nd of January, 2019, Itisaras launched its third project – Project Dheer at village Sanet situated in the Karauli District of Rajasthan. The primary objective of this project is to conduct legal awareness sessions along with observing the implementation of various state and central government schemes, raising awareness about them with the ultimate goal of facilitating their implementation in rural India.

Taking our first step in this direction, we chose Sanet as our target site. As a part of this, a team of 12 members went to the village, conducted the survey,  engaged in a conversation with different stakeholders and contributed in suggesting newer ideas for its betterment.

The village incorporates a total of 6092 population. It is divided into 3 dhaanis inhabited by the Meena Community, Jatav Community and different communities of Brahmin, Gujjar, Jats respectively.

During the 4-day visit, our team conducted a qualitative survey with the objective of learning the existing situation of different state/central schemes. Going ahead in this direction we shortlisted the following schemes as the focal point of our survey: Bhamashah Yojana, Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana, Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana, Jila Mahila Sahayata Samiti, Widow Pension Scheme & Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Our work included learning the procedural aspects of availing these schemes, finding out whether people are receiving the entailed benefits and if not where the loopholes lie. While Bhamashah Yojana had ita firm grip in every household, Mujhyamantri Rajshree Yojana & Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana were well in place too. Similarly, the Widow Pension Scheme functioned smoothly. A few households availed the benefits of Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana. However, contrary to these was the Jila Mahila Sahayata Samiti which was totally inexistent.

In addition to this, we engaged into a conversation with the ASHA worker of one of the Aanganwadis, a nurse running the local health centre, e-mitras to understand the operation of these centres and the issues they face. Further, our team made the residents aware of the legal recourses at their resort, schemes instituted for public welfare & pertinent social issues including menstrual hygiene, education and so on.

In a nutshell, our team left no stone unturned to reach out to all the sections of the people and discuss relevant issues, their problems alongside studying the implementation of schemes. The objective was to come to terms with the ground reality and take charge to the fullest possible extent in suggesting remedies to the problems/loopholes brought to the forefront.
